Flu vaccinations 2020/21

Following the recent announcement that additional patients will be eligible for this year's flu vaccination, please be aware that we are awaiting further information from NHS England and Public Health England. We found out this news at the same time as the general public and plans have not yet been put in place. We will be working hard over the next month to ensure that all plans and risk assessments will be carried out to protect staff and patients while providing flu vaccinations under Covid restrictions to a bigger group of patients than normal. As soon as plans are in place, we will be in contact with all eligible patients.

Covid-19

PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND EITHER SURGERY UNLESS YOU HAVE PHONED US FIRST OR YOU HAVE BEEN ASKED TO ATTEND

Please see below for the steps the practice has taken due to the situation with Covid-19:


  • We have closed our doors at North Baddesley Surgery to limit the number of people in the building at any time
  • All GP consultations are by telephone or video consultation and the GP will make arrangements for you to come in if they need to examine you
  • If you have a face-to-face appointment at the surgery, please arrive no more than 5 minutes before your appointment time and wait in the car park to be called
  • The GP/nurse will call you when they are ready for you, there is no need for you to phone to tell us you are waiting
  • The GP/nurse will take your temperature and ask you some screening questions
  • Please wear a face covering when attending the surgery in person
  • Please limit the number of people attending your appointment and only bring someone if they are your carer or interpreter.
  • Children can attend with one parent/guardian only
  • We have temporarily turned off the ability to book appointments online. All other aspects of Online Access (requesting prescriptions etc.) are still working
  • We are issuing all prescriptions via EPS which is an electronic service where your prescription will be sent directly and securely to a pharmacy of your choice for collection. If you don’t already have a nominated pharmacy, please let us know your chosen pharmacy by noting this on your next prescription request
  • Please use online services to request your prescriptions. Either use your existing online service, or if you do not currently have access to online services, the NHS app can be set up from home without the need to attend the surgery to register for this service. Alternatively, you can send your prescription requests to whccg.northbaddesleysurgery@nhs.net
  • Please use eConsult wherever possible for routine concerns 
  • Please don't send in photographs to the practice's email address but instead use eConsult if necessary
  • We have also cancelled our drop in blood service that normally runs everyday between 1pm - 2.15pm
  • If you wish to have online access to your records or request medications, please use the NHS App

Children and Covid: For the attention of those with young families

At this challenging time, it is extremely important for you to know that COVID-19 is unlikely to make your child unwell, but they, like everyone else, might be infectious so staying at home when well remains the message. However, all the ‘normal’ illnesses that can make children severely unwell still remain and there is a major risk that parents may delay bringing their child to the attention of a healthcare professionals even if they are unwell because of concerns about COVID-19.

GPs and hospitals are still providing the same safe care that they have always done for children.

If your child appears severely unwell and advice is not quickly available, call 999 or take them to Emergency Department as you would in other times.


Thank You to Our Patients

We would like to say thank you to our incredibly supportive patients who have thanked our team, sent messages of appreciation and recognise how hard our whole team has been working to deal with the extra workload at this time. 

All of the measures we have put in place over the past weeks are following guidance from Public Health England and are being implemented across many GP practices in the UK. It is all about keeping you safe, minimising your exposure to patients with Covid-19 symptoms. We also need to keep our teams safe as well so that we can keep working to provide patient care.


Knightwood Surgery Closure

Knightwood Surgery is closed due to walk-ins due to Covid restrictions. We hope to re-open it as normal as soon as restrictions allow.

Why can't I get a prescription for an over-the-counter medicine?


Wessex Healthier Together

Healthier Together provides you with information to help keep your child safe and healthy, as well as helping you decide what to do when your child is unwell.

It is used by healthcare professionals from across the region. This ensures that your child receives consistently high quality care, irrespective of where they are seen.

Local GP practices are working together to offer patients better access to appointments in West Hampshire - this means you will be able to see a GP or healthcare professional at a time which is most convenient for you

You can now book appointments to see a GP or healthcare professional in the evenings or at weekends

Consent must be provided so that clinicians can have full access to your medical records. If you have opted out of sharing your records, you cannot be seen outside your own practice.

There are now a variety of ways you can get advice from your GP or healthcare professional, including over the telephone and online. Speak to the practice receptionist or a member of the practice team to find out more

To arrange an appointment, speak to the practice receptionist or member of the practice team. If you need an urgent appointment you can ring NHS 111 (all calls to 111 are free from landlines and mobiles)

It is not a walk-in service - all appointments need to be booked and can be booked up to two weeks in advance.
